XAMPP MySQL won't connect while MySql Server in Mac is on

Postby cumhur » 20. November 2015 11:33

Hello everyone. My name is Cumhur and I need your help please. Here is my problem:

1- I am a rookie. I have downloaded MySQL Server for Mac from its website and installed it. Normally when I activate it is on and vice versa. But I wanted to install Wordpress on my localhost and when I searched I found out that I need to install XAMPP. I did. After long reading and watching session in google and youtube, I managed that. Nevertheless when the installation on Mac with MySQL Server is running, I can start Apache Web Server of XAMPP but the MySQL Server. When I switch off Mac's MySQL Server, then XAMPP's MySQL Server can connect.

2- Also there is an error message shown in localhost/pnpmyadmin side which says: "The phpMyAdmin configuration storage is not completely configured, some extended features have been deactivated. Find out why. Or alternately go to 'Operations' tab of any database to set it up there." which I have no clue about it.

Can someone help me to fix the problem please?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

You can only run one MySQL Server at the same time, either the XAMPP MySQL or your own one because both are using the same port.

All other errors like phpmyadmin are sideeffects because XAMPP MySQL is not started.

Best wishes,

Thank you so much dear. I uninstalled the Mac's MySQL by using the Terminal. Now everything is working. Great.
All my best
