phpmyadmin Database issue - Permission denied (13)

Postby tenfathoms » 22. October 2015 11:18

Hi, I'm having an issue setting up phpmyadmin using XAMPP 5.6.14 for OSX El Capitan (10.11).

I had trouble accessing phpmyadmin completely, but for some reason I now have access but get the following issue, which means I can't create a database:

Code: Select all
Warning in ./libraries/session.inc.php#101
 session_start(): open(/var/folders/4t/2c_m2m412kn5tythxqxh58pm0000gr/T/sess_pqhoj5619bneca9k64risgej7jqp7p2u, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13)

Backtrace

./libraries/session.inc.php#101: session_start()
./libraries/common.inc.php#349: require(./libraries/session.inc.php)
./index.php#12: require_once(./libraries/common.inc.php)

Any help appreciated.

Many thanks,
Paul

Just to give you some other info. When I clear browser Cache and access phpmyadmin again it displays this message:

Error during session start; please check your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly. Also ensure that cookies are enabled in your browser.

I refresh the browser and get into phpmyadmin but still with the Warning message above. thanks.

I am getting the same error, with the same behaviour, in 5.6.15-1, OS X 10.11.3

Were you able to sort this on your system?

Unfortunately not. I've just had to develop directly on the remote server, which has been time consuming. I'm going to try installing XAMPP on to my new macbook today and see how I get on.

After I posted this, I found a post that helped (sorry I can't remember where it was; I looked through so many!)

Anyway, try this.. look in phpinfo and note the location of the TMPDIR (in the "Sessions" section). Actually, looking at your post again, it would be the "T" directory in your OP.)

Then do this at the command line:

sudo chmod 777 /var/folders/4t/2c_m2m412kn5tythxqxh58pm0000gr/T/

(That's using the path in your original post).

Hope this helps!

Thanks very much your reply. Just tried this and now I get: 'Invalid authentication method set in configuration: ‘config’'

I tried changing the password in the config.inc.php file but this didn't resolve this new error.

Thanks again.

It looks as if you are using the wrong quote characters when editing config.inc.php, obviously ‘config’ is surrounded by so called "backticks" instead of single quotes.

Well spotted! Changed that and I'm in!! It's only taken about a year to sort that so thank you so much. Permissions ey, get you every time! Thanks again.
