Upgrade Mistake - Are mysql databases still recoverable?

Postby klew » 14. September 2015 06:15

Hi!

I the mistake of not reading the upgrade procedure when I went from XAMPP 5.6.3 to XAMPP 5.6.12. I just reinstalled the new version over the older version without making a backup of the database. As a result, I have lost all the tables in my database. I can still see the databases using phpMyAdmin but it says "No tables found in database" when I try to access it. I can see the database folder in var/mysql in the file system as well.

Can I still recover my databases or do I have to recreate them from scratch?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Cheers!

I dont think so.

You may have a very very slight chance, proceed to an OSX forum and ask about automated file recovery in OSX filesystems. Maybe you are lucky and can find a system backup of the earlier file versions (normally file versions are supported in OSX).

Thanks Nobbie. I was afraid that would be the case. Oh well! I guess that's the price for doing something stupid.
