Reinstalled XAMPP, lost copied files

XAMPP wasn't working properly, so I copied all the files I was working on to my desktop and into another folder outside the server. I deleted, then reinstalled, XAMPP, but now all my files saved onto my computer are gone. I tried running a recovery and searching for hidden files, but nothing. Are those files gone forever? Thanks

First of all we have to find out, what really happened to your PC, i do not believe that "ALL Files" have gone (you even could not start Windows nor anything else).
