XAMPP not work in Mavericks

Postby gerardrev » 26. August 2014 16:03

Hello everyone, I'm new here.
I have a Macbook Pro with Mavericks Mac OS, and I installed XAMPP 1.8.3-4.
I start apache, I can acces to Welcome site of XAMPP, but if I attemp to access to my personal web: http://localhost/xampp/web/index.php
Returns the following error:

http://overpic.net/viewer.php?file=x7qop88oowtxi29wldy0.png

The file exists. I think that the problem is permissions, I'm the owner, and I have permissions to reading and write over this folder "web".

Anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

What is the hard drive path to your file?

Your personaly files shouldn't be under http://localhost/xampp/web/ I think.

I think they should be found at http://localhost/web/

But to be sure, tell me how to get to the files from the perspective of your hard drive and not the web.

If I remember correctly the "xampp" demo/welcome message site is set up to automatically redirect any request for http://localhost/.

If you visit http://localhost/ what do you see? Does it automatically change to http://localhost/xampp/ ?

If you add a test.html file to /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/test.html and then go to http://localhost/test.html what do you see?

Thank you very much, I was going crazy thinking it was a permissions problem, and as you said it was a problem with the address.
The correct address is: http://localhost/web/index.php
Thank you very much

NOTE: ApacheFriends, Please fix this ASAP!

XAMPP 1.8.x is not configured like XAMPP 1.7.x. They change back to the [httpd] defaults for the [userdir] parameter ('/home/*/public_html/'). But Mac OS X uses `/Users/*/Sites/` for the [userdir] parameter.

If using XAMPP 1.8.x, it doesn't matter which version of Mac OS X you use (Lion, Snow Leopard, Mavericks, Yosemite?), the [userdir] parameter will be incorrect, due to XAMPP using [httpd] defaults.

You need to follow the instructions on this POST to fix it, so the /Users/[username]/Sites/ becomes XAMPP's default localhost directory:

https://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=29&p=237570&sid=b181b38530841a32bc457e5202d135e8#p237570

After you fix this, you will be able to navigate here, to see what's in your Sites directory:

http://localhost/~[username]/

EXAMPLE FOR USER `jdoe`:

/Users/jdoe/Sites/my-cool-webapp/

Access URL:

http://localhost/~jdoe/my-cool-webapp/
