Non-port Related Conflict XAMPP and Apache

Postby m2brenesp » 18. April 2014 22:52

I have been trying to start it on my Intel PowerBook w Retina Display. I have a freshly installed version of XAMPP 1.8.3. I already had Apache installed and running so I knew ports would be a conflict.
I changed the port. I tried starting and it would after a short period stop (lights turn red).

I tried troubleshooting it to no avail since there would be not output to the log files (error_log was empty). I tried checking file permission settings and that did not solve it.

Eventually, I stopped apache and was able to start XAMMP. Logging started happening. Then I started apache and it started as well.

Why do I have to stop Apache? What is the conflict if the port conflict was resolved?
