MySQL Does not start

Postby TomLewis » 21. March 2014 16:00

I recently updated xampp for osx 10.8, and mysql is very fickle now, it drops out, refuses to start, only after a reboot will mysql start up, could this be a conflict with installing the update over the previous version? or does OSX have a mysql server running by default? I killed the processes from the terminal and it boots up again, but I don't want this UN-needed hassle.

Did you manage to fix this problem? I am having the same issue although I can't seem to get around it.

Had an issue like this on 10.8.5 where the sql would hand in starting mysql.
The issue was file permissions.
Go to xampp manager, configure the mysql service and click view log.
On mine this opened console viewer but said I didnt have permission to view it.
Go to the location and check permussions on the folder above.

If nothing else, console should give you an indication to the error.
