FTP username and/or localhost

Problems with the Mac OS X version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

FTP username and/or localhost

Postby ramiro27 » 06. May 2013 21:23

Dear all,

Sorry for the basic question, but I am just starting to work with xampp and wordpress.

I made all the installations and then updated the xampp security with passwords for the FTP and MySQL. Now I was trying to install a theme to wordpress and I am asked for three fields:

Host
FTP username
Password

However, when I changed my security details, I only changed password - so that is the only thing I am sure about.

i have tried localhost for HOST and xampp or nobody for USERNAME, but these don't work. Does anyone know what these should be?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Ramiro

Hi all,

I have figured this out:

host: the name of your map as in system preferences -> Sharing
username: your regular username on your laptop
password: your regular password on your laptop

after being able to get in, I was then getting an error for installing the themes, and the link below solved my problem.
