XAMPP control launch two daemons

Hi there

Relatively new to XAMPP (1.7.3) on Mac OS 10.7.3. I've noticed that the controller launches two daemons, one as nobody, one as root:

bash-3.2$ ps aux -a |grep mysq
nobody 1034 0.0 0.5 675696 22628 ?? S 8:45AM 0:00.06 /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/sbin/mysqld --basedir=/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles ... etc
root 909 0.0 0.0 2435488 876 ?? S 8:45AM 0:00.02 /bin/sh /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/mysqld_safe --datadir ... etc

This causes problems with InnoDB that can't lock the ibdata1 file and will refuse to load. If I use XAMPP to only launch Apache and launch MySQL manually with /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/sbin/mysqld I have no problems

Is this standard behavior?
Is this something that can be changed in the my.cnf file? (I do't see where)
There seem to be newer versions for Windoze (:-( will there be corresponding Mac versions that might fix this?

Cheers

Jon
