problem with xampp joomla

Postby sarsells » 13. February 2012 22:05

I have used my Xampp server in the past, with no problems.
However I have been trying to set up a new site. during the joomla setup, I am told that the configuration php is not writeable, and that I will have to install it manually. I have done this, and set up the site.
However, nothing will have. If I try to upload anything I get the message
Warning: Failed to move file

I once got this message on a live site. In that case I had run out of space on the server.
As This server is local, I wondered how one knows how much space is allocated? In other words is it like a partition?

If this is not a likely problem, can anyone make a suggestion as to why nothing will write via the joomla interface?

Many thanks

what I think is the Privilege of your folder. you can set your Privilege in info > Share & Permissions
set to Read & Write. You should add the config file in the root folder
