error #1045 - phpmyadmin

Hello there,

I am having trouble accessing my local phpmyadmin.

'#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)'

I think this may have arisen when I set up a mySQL database online and then downloaded it to my XAMPP folder directory.

Now I cannot access my local SQL server and cannot prepare a testing server for a site I am working on.

Any help on how to resotre access to mySQL server would be appreciated,
