Access Forbidden Issue In Lion

Postby pankaj » 10. December 2011 03:10

Hi!
Today I have installed XAMPP on my new Mac Book Pro. After installing XAMPP is accessible from http://localhost but any other URL or directories are not accessible using it. Such as http://localhost/vb etc. When I am trying to access the directory I got this error -
Access forbidden!

You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Error 403

Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8l PHP/5.3.1 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1

Help me to solve this out!!

Would you be so kind as to add your XAMPP version and Operating System to your profile:

Thanks. :)

I'm also new to mac (will never go back!!) and had the same problem. The issue is addressed in this thread: http://community.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=35876
You can go into terminal and do:

chmod -R 777 /Applications/xampp/htdocs/[your folder]

To get to the terminal, go to Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app

This seems to be a common problem for mac users and I think it should be in the documentation for Mac, or on the index page for XAMPP. It would save time.
