Problems with the Mac OS X version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Error: Object not found

Postby yslobard » 03. November 2011 21:48

I am a beginning PHP user and this is the program my professor recommended, however he does not know how to troubleshoot for macs. I am on a MacBook Pro running the latest version of lion and the latest version of XAMPP. I created a .php file and I placed in the htcdocs folder as suggested by the website, but every time i go to the address of where the file would be i get the error object not found. The opening page for XAMPP works just fine as well as the links on it. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Its probably an ownership issue.

look at this topic :

You can also put a symbolic link in htdocs that points to an area in your ~home.

Good Luck

I have tried that link and still having issues but for some reason I am unable to follow the exact instructions due to an option needed is not there. I'm looking for further help into why that is but has anyone any other ideas what else the problem could be?

I have a similar problem with Wordpress, it turns out I didn't create a htaccess file. Don't know how this can help but maybe you should check on that as well.

Cheers for the advise Angela. I've decided to use Mamp now anyway. Seems a little better...and works :)
