Trouble changing Document Root (OS X 10.6.9) 1.7.3 [SOLVED]

Postby nerve » 26. October 2011 17:57

Hello all.
this is my first post on the forum. iv been learning html and php for a few months now, and iv always been using XAMPP.
Iv been working on a php project for a month now, its quite large, so im defining the site root in php for easy navigation between pages.
Code: Select all
define('SITE_ROOT', DS.'Users'.DS.'user'.DS.'Sites'.DS.'project');

i wanted to use the osx default root "Users/'user'/Sites" directory, i read up that i need to change in the httpd.cong lines to :
DocumentRoot "/Users/'user'/Sites"
<Directory "/Users/'user/Sites">

Im now able to view my Sites directory form localhost/ in my browser. but all my php pages show up as plain text.
am i missing something?

thanks in advance

Hello again.

Resolved my issue

i dug around for a solution, couldn't find one...
i reverted to the httpd.conf.bak and that even didnt work. all my php files in htdocs were also showing up as text.

ended up reinstalling XAMPP. after i loaded it up the welcome screen popped up . which i was happy about, but then xampp index.php spat out plain text.
moments later everything was back to normal, and everything ran fine.

i even managed to change document root successfully with the steps i did before.

sorry for waisting form space but i hope this can help anyone in the future that runs into this issue.
