configuration files for mysql and php

Hello all,

I have installed XAMPP for Mac just now. MySQL seems to be running on the unix socket rather than on port 3306 (for root user). How can I change this? Another question I had is - where are the configuration files for PHP and MySQL located in XAMPP folder?
