MySQL fresh install can't start

Hi!
I just installed XAMPP for Mac OS X 1.7.3 . Apache and FTP started as they should. But MySQL failed starting with the following issue:
The operation couldn't be completed.
(XAMPPErrorDomain error 1.)
I looked through forum but all the similar issues not related to fresh install.

Have you tried to change permissions of the mysql-folder as suggested in these posts:
