Please help me!

Hello I just recently installed XAMPP onto my Macbook PRO. I have setup the passwords in terminal using the Sudo Su commands but I do not get how to change the user for the XAMPP protected pages; I don't even get the way I am supposed to change the user 'nobody' to whatever I want and how can I add FTP users? I tried editing the .conf pages but Mac won't let me save them. I am just in all confused!

Anyone who helps I would be greatly appreciative. :)

In order to change the .conf you need to give yourself write access to both the file and the directory the file is in. For example to change httpd.conf which is in the directory etc, you need give yourself write access to the etc-directory and to the httpd.conf-file.

For details about changing permissions, read my post at this thread:

I'm not sure how you can add FTP users. I suppose you need to do this in proftpd.conf. I've also no experience in changing the webserver user ('nobody') to another. I know this username comes back at several places, so be careful with changing that. It's possible that you break your XAMPP installation, but I'm not sure about that, because I never tried to change the webserver user.
