mod_python installation on Mac/Snowleapord

Hi,
I installed XAMPP on Mac with Snowleapord.

Now I want to install mod_python to support running python scripts on my localhost.

I have installed Python 2.6

Can someone tell me what is the best way to enable mod_python?
I tried using ports to install it but failed.

Any help is greatly appreciated
