Apache doesn't stop

Postby Lifelogger » 23. January 2010 19:02

Hi,

I searched the forum and I noticed that I am not the only person who has problems stopping apache. Somehow I can start and stop MySQL with the control panel, but not Apache. It seems that it doesn't stop running until I stop or reboot my system.

I tried the suggestions that I read in the forum by stopping Apache with the terminal, but that also doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem now?

Best regards.

I also noticed this problem this weekend. I could stop Apache this way:
1. Open the application Activity Monitor which you can find in /Applications/Utilities/
2. Choose to view all processes (you can select that in a select field near the top of the window).
3. In the list, look for httpd.
4. Select the first httpd in the list and click the 'Quit process' button (near the top left of the window). You will be asked if you are sure to stop the process. Click 'Force quit'.
5. Repeat step 4 until all httpd-processes are quit.
6. Now try to restart XAMPP from the Terminal:
Code: Select all
/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/xampp restart

Hope this works for you, it worked for me.

Thanks for the tip. Killing all httpd processes worked for me.

Hope this bug will get fixed in future versions.
