Running XAMPP as local server with NO Internet Connection

Postby tgontz » 11. January 2010 04:22

I am running XAMPP version 1.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.4.11. I would like to be able to work on local sites that use PHP and MySQL such as Joomla! and ZenCart when I don't have access to the Internet. However, I cannot access any of these local sites unless I am connected to the Internet. What do I have to do to allow XAMPP to fully function without an Internet connection?

Which address do you type in (in your browser) when you want to access your sites? I also run XAMPP on a Mac without internet connection and it is running fine. Your sites should be accessible via http://127.0.0.1/ or http://localhost/. If that is not the case, maybe the sites are not right configured, for example when you had told Joomla! that the base-url for your site was http://192.168.1.2/ (or something similar).

This has been resolved now. The problem was that I could not get Firefox to leave Offline mode. (Although I thought that I tried it in Safari an problems there as well - but I guess I was wrong.) So the problem was with Firefox and nothing else.
