Folks,
I used phpMyAdmin to change the password for my root user in mysql.
After doing this, and shutting down and restarting all of XAMPP, when I go back to the security page it still tells me:
"The MySQL user root has no password"
When I use Terminal to try to start the mysql client by simply typing:
mysql
I get this error:
"Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)"
If I log in by entering:
mysql -u root -p
I am prompted for my root password, and when I enter it I get in.
So why is XAMPP's security page still reporting that the MySQL root user has no password?
Thanks in advance.
Tony
