Why upgrade?

What is in the new version of XAMPP (for Mac) that doing an upgrade is worthwhile, if all my stuff runs fine now?

The new version of XAMPP (v1.7.2a) contains PHP 5.3.
With PHP 5.3 you are able to work with namespaces for example.

Nothing. If you are ok, you are ok.

PHP 5.3.0 has closures (inner functions), a very useful feature that most modern languages have had for years. If you use callbacks when traversing a data structure (such as a shopping cart), you'll really want closures.

But if you decide to use them, be sure that your ultimate hosting platform will have PHP 5.3.0.
