May I Upgrade (not fresh installation) a new Xampp version?

Postby ticonzero » 12. May 2009 15:57

Hello,

I'm a newbye in here and I have to upgrade my xampp on mac os to the latest release; I would like to do it without doing a fresh installation.
I have tried to read in this forum for that topic; I'm in a hurry and I found nothing about it.
May you help me to answer my query please?

Bye.

I have read with great attention your suggestion and there is nothing about how to install a new release of Xampp on an old one without making operations such as: dumpinh the database an so on.

Bye.

You have a good point. Most people know how to use phpMyAdmin to export (dump) all their databases on the server to an SQL file. You also save a copy of your htdocs folder. After you install the new XAMPP you copy back your saved htdocs. You then use phpMyAdmin Import to create and build the databases you backed up. It's all pretty easy.

The reason is to know if there is a way to install over an old installation in a faster way then the one commonly known. If not I think it would be useful to add that feature; upgrading I mean.
