Green as they come....

I am teaching myself web design (XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Javascript), and I am gettng to the pont where I need to have a server on my personal computer..

I have an apple G4/dual 866, running OSX 10.3.9.. I have figured out that Apache is already installed and have figured out how to turn it on... found the folder it looks to for running pages, and it works with some basic HTML pages I've tried on it..

Now the hard part... I need to install PHP and MySQL on it and get that stuff operating so that I can go on to learningm building pages and DBs, and testing it all out...

I found the XAMPP download page but it requires OSX 10.4 or later... and I simply can not afford that.. So I guess I have to install these things the hard way..

Where do I start, and how do I go about it... I'm really hoping to make this kind of a pain free process, and I really hope that's how it goes...

Appreciate al the help I can get. thanx..
