The dowload says its for 10.4. Any issues with 10.5?

I don't know where you read that, but the Download Page says "This version is for Mac OS X 10.4 (Intel&PPC) and higher."

Got it. Seemed unspecific. I went ahead and installed it anyway, and it's functioning for the most part.

I am having trouble with MySQL. When I first installed it, MySQL and phpmyadmin was working fine. I then ran the security script and accepted the defaults and put in passwords.

Now, I can't connect to MySQL. When I try to access it via XAMPP (after logging in to the apache prompt) I get:

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.
Error

MySQL said: Documentation
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

When I try to login using MySQL Administrator, I get:

Connection Error

Could not connect to MySQL instance at localhost.
Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) (code 2002)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK, I figured out that I have to update the phpmyadmin and sample files manually to use the new mysql password. That works now.

MySQL Administrator is still not working, with the same error as above. So I know that MySQL is running and that I know the username and password post-security settings applied. I do not know that MySQL Administrator ever worked. But I need it to (and Query Browser). Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Well this is odd. MySQL Administrator works with "127.0.0.1", but not "localhost".

So this is becoming a more and more insignificant problem. Most everything is perfect. Would like to know why "localhost" doesn't work though.

Thanks.

Well this is odd. MySQL Administrator works with "127.0.0.1", but not "localhost".

With "127.0.0.1" a MySQL Client is using a tcp/ip connection. With "localhost" it's using a socket. But your client is searching the socket at the wrong location (for a XAMPP MySQL server).

"127.0.0.1" instead of "localhost" worked for me! Thanks!
