Hai every one,
I am using mac 10.5.5. I downloaded and installed the XAMPP. But I cannot open the http://localhost. When I tried to open it it is asking for XAMPP user id and password. But I can open http://localhost/~username. Why is this problem occuring. What is the password I should give. Thank you

Hi Prathik,

I can figure what you are explaining.

I've installed xampp 1.0 and I've to downgrade, to 0.7.4 as the download page. I've installed on a iBook G4 with Tiger 10.4.11 and on a MacBook with Leopard 10.5.6.

On both configurations when lauch the XAMPP Control Panel it appears a pop up where you have to type you Mac user and password and then appears the control pannel.

Next I click on All Components Start button and point my browser to http://localhost and appears xampp welcome page.

No password, no ~username/.

The ~username/ functionality has to be activated on a xampp configuration file that I think it can be found inside the installation directory etc/extra/httpd-userdir.conf

Don't you have the Mac OSX internal Apache runing ?

Hopes it helps
