I have some problem about XAMPP

Postby Narawin » 18. December 2008 10:01

I just download XAMPP to start programing PHP on MAC OS and I have a couple problems that need some help.

1. After access http://localhost, I found the page that show the following statements instead of the orange XAMPP page.
But if I access from http://127.0.0.1, it normally show the orange XAMPP page >> http://127.0.0.1/xampp/index.php.

" If you can see this, it means that the installation of the Apache web server software on this system was successful. You may now add content to this directory and replace this page.
Seeing this instead of the website you expected?

This page is here because the site administrator has changed the configuration of this web server. Please contact the person responsible for maintaining this server with questions. The Apache Software Foundation, which wrote the web server software this site administrator is using, has nothing to do with maintaining this site and cannot help resolve configuration issues.

The Apache documentation has been included with this distribution.

You are free to use the image below on an Apache-powered web server. Thanks for using Apache! "

2. I would like to initially display something on my localhost by creating .php form in dreamwever cs3 but I got some problems.
After I access http://localhost/(myweb) ; (my web) is the php file that I save in library/webserver/documents/(myweb).
It just show the code that I made from dreamweaver, not the things I really want to see.

Is it related to my mistake while installation process?

What should I do to fix these problems?
Please help me..

Thank you very much,
Narawin

hello Narawin,

"library/webserver/documents/" is the directory of mac os xs' own apache web-server, not from xampp!
and the strange page you found when accessing localhost is from there...
maybe you have to disable web-sharing in "system-preferences >> sharing".

save your files in "/Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/htdocs" thats the xampp web-server directory!

hope this helps
