setting permisisons

Problems with the Mac OS X version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

setting permisisons

Postby sjs » 09. December 2008 04:01

Newbie.... obviously
I am working with Flash, PHP and XML. When I try to get the PHP script to open an XML file to write to it, I get the following error:
Warning: file_put_contents(poll.xml) [function.file-put-contents]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/htdocs/xampp/readWriteXmlFile/polling.php on line 18

How do I set my permissions. I have read/write permission for the file already, but I am assuming it is different. Please help.

Thanks for all your help

I don't know how exactly XAMPP for Mac is working, but i assume that there the Apache is running as User nobody, like under Linux. So try to set the file writeable to everyone for testing. If this is working, you could either try to run Apache as another user/group and set the appropriate permissions or you change all your files world-writabel.
