access problem with Xampp for Leopard

Postby Gin&Tea » 01. November 2008 15:57

I have installed the xampp step by step.

and it runs as well

c:~ Gin$ sudo su
Password:
sh-3.2# /applications/xampp/xamppfiles/mampp start
Starting XAMPP for MacOS X 0.7.4...
XAMPP: XAMPP-Apache is already running.
XAMPP: XAMPP-MySQL is already running.
XAMPP: XAMPP-ProFTPD is already running.
XAMPP for MacOS X started.
sh-3.2#

but when I viewed it with my safari, it showed that:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

what's wrong with my xampp?

Safari

It could be that Safari is not really compatible. I hadn't problems while using Safari and Xampp, but now I use Firefox instead, because I want to use a CMS and one of them had in it's manual that the configuration is not working with Safari. Just try another alternate browser and see if it works there.

I don't know XAMPP for Mac, but could it be possible that you already have the components running from your Operating system?

Please post the complete Error-Message from your Browser, especially the Server signature at the bottom.

Double check your passwords - compare how you set up Xampp security with the the password thread. Then from the Safari menu reset Safari and restart Xampp. If you have been monkeying around with settings and don't remember all that you did, then uninstall Xampp from the command line and re-install according to the password thread.

Xampp runs well on Leopard with firefox and safari.

Do you have websharing enabled?

(System Prefs -> Sharing, I think, not in fron tof my mac right now)

Disable it - it sounds like your mac's apache instance is conflicting with Xampp.
