Require assistance accessing phpMyAdmin

Postby ScottDaniels » 12. September 2008 19:10

Hi, I'm a XAMPP newbie, so bear with me here.

I recently downloaded and installed XAMPP, and downloaded MediaWiki. As I ran the config.php file, I got this notice:

"Warning: PHP's register_globals option is enabled. Disable it if you can.
MediaWiki will work, but your server is more exposed to PHP-based security vulnerabilities."

So I opened phpMyAdmin to see how I could disable this, but I ran into a wall:

"Error
MySQL said:

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)"

How do I get into phpMyAdmin?

If you can assist, any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
ScottDaniels

register_globals should be on.

most problems that I've seen with phpmyadmin were solved with re-installing xampp then going carefully through the security steps - if you choose to go this route, uninstall through the terminal before re-installing. Don't forget to clear your browser's cache also.
