Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'

Postby skubitz » 04. March 2008 20:35

I just installed XAMPP 0.7.2 for Mac OS X (10.4.11). When I look at the status, everything looks good and then I ran the security script, which verifies that everything is secure. Now, when I go to phpMyAdmin, I receive the following error.

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

I have been looking through the web and it seems like phpMyAdmin needs to know the MySql root password (or that there is one), but I do not know where to make the change.

I thought it was the config.inc.php file but I am very new at this and have no idea what modifications to try.

Based on some posts, I tried changing the authemication to http but that did not work.

Any help would be apppreciated.

Thanks!

You'll find the file located at:

/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php

Look at line 34.

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = '';

It will probably have a blank password.
