uninstalling xampp

After I've followed instructions on the website to uninstall XAMPP, whenever I go to http://localhost it will automatically redirect http://localhost/xampp/index.php. How do I stop this automatic redirection?

Boo, didn't work for me, exact same problem (no traces of xampp, and still localhost redirects to xampp/index.php). Any ideas?
