su: /Applications/xampp/etc/httpd.conf: Permission denied
jim-smiths-computer:/Users/RRR root# /Applications/xampp/etc/my.cnf

jim-smiths-computer:/Users/RRR root# /Applications/xampp/etc/php.ini

jim-smiths-computer:/Users/RRR root# /Applications/xampp/etc/proftpd.conf

Dear Sir,

you need to specify with which program you wish to edit the files.
e.g.

# vim proftpd.conf
