Changing port numbers+MySQL not working

Postby skewh » 16. November 2006 06:54

Hello,
I tried changing my port number for apache from 80 to 81, and my ProFTP port from 21 to 22. So far that has been working, but MySQL just won't start. When I type in the command for it to start it says "MySQL starting..." but the status page says it is deactivated. Any help here? Did I not change something correctly? Much appreciated!

I'm having exactly the same problem and I don't seem to be able to sort it.

Was MySQL starting before? Canging ports of Apache and ProFTPD should not have any effects on MySQL unless you change any port to 3306.

I do not have a Mac, so is there a mysql_start Script-File in the xampp root directory? If so, try starting MySQL with this file, then you should get an Error-Message.

Well, it gave an error message anyway. It doesn't when you just uncomment skip-networking and it only uses the socket.

So, that's how to fix it, just uncomment skip-networking, and you're done :)
