Pointing localhost

Postby jbourland » 07. June 2006 06:09

Hi, I'm excited to get xampp up and running on my mac. I'm extremely new at this, but I'm a quick learner.

I'm having trouble getting my browser to the right localhost. I get the typical "If you see this" page, and my guess is that the browser is looking at a localhost file specified by the web server pre-installed in Mac OS, not xampp.

How do I get my browser to point to xampp? Do I need to disable the old Apache in the OS?

Thanks--

Yes, you need to diable the built in Apche server.
I had the same problem and stopping it worked for me.
Just go to Sys prefrences>Sharing>Personal web sharing>Stop
That should work ;)

what if you want to set up a real domain to the outside world, you would need to turn on the sharing
