Apache fails to start

Postby jeffdoz » 05. May 2005 03:24

Just downloaded xampp for Mac OS X (10.3.9), but when starting xampp, I get the following error for Apache. NB: No other webserver is running.

axe:/Users/jeffdowsley/temp root# /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/mampp start
Starting XAMPP for MacOS X 0.2 (BETA)...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP5)...
XAMPP: Error 1! Couldn't start Apache!
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...
XAMPP for MacOS X started.
axe:/Users/jeffdowsley/temp root#

Then when I check the apachestart.log, it contains:

Warning: DocumentRoot [/Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/htdocs] does not exist
(48)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

A recheck shows that no webserver is running:

axe:~ root# ps -x|grep httpd
3369 std R+ 0:00.00 grep httpd
axe:~ root#

Any thoughts?

TIA

Hi,

did you change anything in the config files?
Because the DocumentRoot is not set right.
