I have powerbook G5 running the latest os X and i check the directory, it is not there. what i notice was a sub-directory inside mysql, call my mysql which i found strange. this is the whole path:

/usr/local/xampp/var/mysql/mysql/

i think when the installer was created, it create mysql sub-directory under mysql folder. even in there, there is no mysql.sock files.

HI,

the mysql.sock File is created once mysql has started...
Are there any errors in /usr/local/xampp/var/mysql/<hostname>-err ?
