No worries, hopefully I can be of some assistance.
I you are like me I have the a Mac with the M1 chip.
Some may say that Xampp is not compatible with the M1, but this is
true!
Steps to downloading (working versions with the M1) such as versions 7.4.27 & version 8.1.2
- From the Xampp website https://www.apachefriends.org/
-in the nav bar click on download next to Apache Friends
-scroll down to the Xampp for OS X section
- click on the More Downloads » link
- then choose XAMPP Mac OS X
- next choose 8.1.2 or 7.4.27
- and download the xampp-osx-8.1.2-0-installer.dmg
- after downloading Xampp, click the start all servers button
- NOTE: IF MYSQL DATABASE IS STOPPED AND IS NOT RUNNING THEN USE THE FOLLOWING COMMAND IN THE TERMINAL
sudo killall mysqld
sudo /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/mysql.server start
- then in your browser type localhost
- if you see the "Welcome to Xampp for OS X 8.1.2" screen appear, then the installation was successful
- open Xampp in your finder foler
- locate then click on htdocs
- create your project folder in htdocs. For example, testing
- open your project folder that you just created in htdocs in PhpStorm or VSC or the alike, and get to work....
- when you are ready to deploy your project locally, concat localhost + the name of your project folder. For example, type localhost/testing
- good job
