myphp forbidden

Problems with the Mac OS X version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

myphp forbidden

Postby SDaniels » 29. January 2020 09:01

Hello,
I tried to get into http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ and I got an error "Forbidden You don't have permission to access this resource." (I was using MAC Mojave OS. I just upgraded to Catalina just prior to writing this post.) Most of the advice I've read says to update phpMyAdmin.conf but where is this file? I'm told that it's is "created under /etc/apache2/other/". What does that mean? Is that the folder that it's in? I'm not able to find this file simply by searching. Is it hidden or missing? When I follow instructions to change the file through Terminal, I find that I don't have root access. So that's a whole other thing. I know I must sound inept to experts but I'm just trying to use the Xampp on my computer that used to work just fine. Are there some step by step instructions for fixing this problem and getting to localhost/phpmyadmin? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You probably installed the VM version. Recommend dumping that and installing regular installed version.

Thanks. I'll look into reinstalling altogether then.

Hello,
I just installed XAMPP 7.4.1-1 It started just fine but I still get the forbidden message when I try to go to localhost/phpmyadmin. I'm thinking this is a MAC problem but I don't know where to go next.
