pear still doesn't work under 0.4. BITTE HELFEN

i was wondering if there was a way to get pear working under 0.3

prettty much everything i do with it, including pear list-all gives me the following error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3735552 bytes) in /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/lib/php/XML/RPC.php(1246) : eval()'d code on line 803
Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 40 bytes)

How can I fix this?

ok, i managed to solve the initial problem by increasing the allotted memory in php.ini

but now, when i try to install xmlreader, i get the followin error:
