Error 137! Couldn't start Apache!

Postby dstoneh » 15. September 2005 21:13

Trying to run Solaris apache as non-root user, but get .
XAMPP: You are not root: Using port 8080 for Apache
XAMPP: Starting Apache...
XAMPP: Error 137! Couldn't start Apache!

apachestart.log shows this:

ld.so.1: /home/dstoneh/xampp/bin/httpd: fatal: libiconv.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed

Any ideas?

Thanks!

XAMPP: You are not root: Using port 8080 for Apache

That's normal, i think.

XAMPP: Error 137! Couldn't start Apache!
ld.so.1: /home/dstoneh/xampp/bin/httpd: fatal: libiconv.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory

You have an older or newer libiconv? If you have enough rights, you can make a symlink with the name "libiconv.so.2" to your version.

I had no installation of libiocnv.so on my Solaris box. I installed libiconv.so in my home directory - installed from
http://www.gnu.org/software/libiconv/

$ ./configure --prefix=$HOME/xampp
$ make
$ make install

Now I'm up and running.

Thanks very much for the help and a good job with the package.
