Einfach Dinge, die nichts mit XAMPP, Apache Friends, Apache, MySQL, PHP und alle dem zu tun haben. Allerlei halt. ;)

computer & games

How to become a computer games designer? My ideal job would be to become a computer games designer. I know it seems a bit of a pipe dream as its a very competitive industry and I don't have any experience whatsoever. I can do the artwork and layout etc and I have a very very basic grasp of programming (although I'd really just like to be involved in the design of the game). Any ideas on how to make it happen?

I don't see any relation to XAMPP!?
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

It's like porn for programmers 8)

If you really like developing games, then you should consider about programming also. Learn some basic programming for example start with c++, learn algorithm and mostly focus on creating more layouts and learn lots of animation. These will take you so much time and energy. Best of luck.

I believe that the author of the topic is asking the question and setting goals a bit wrong. Even though the topic has been opened a long time ago, people still respond over time, and
I believe it can still be useful to anyone who is asking themselves how to become a "game designer" or whoever else.
In my experience I know that nothing is impossible, I've learned many things in life, and no matter how you evaluate yourself, persistence, and banal refusal to give up is always decisive. The main thing is just keep going no matter what.
Becoming a computer game designer can be a challenging and competitive path, but it's certainly not impossible. Here are a few steps you can take to get your dream job:

Start by learning the basics of game design

Develop your skills

Create a portfolio by pet projects

Network with other game designers

Gain experience by applying trainee positions (if you lucky enough to find some, but you need to do your best

Keep Learning and Developing

Here I provide some useful resources:

Unity is a popular game engine used by many game designers, and their Learn platform offers a variety of free tutorials, courses, and projects to help you learn game design: https://learn.unity.com/

Unreal Engine is another popular game engine, and their website offers a range of documentation, tutorials, and resources for learning game design: https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/learn

This website offers a variety of free tutorials, courses, and resources on game design, as well as a community forum where you can connect with other designers: https://www.gamedesigning.org/

Gamasutra: Gamasutra is a website dedicated to game development and design, and offers articles, news, and resources on game design and the industry: https://www.gamasutra.com/

Coursera: Coursera offers a variety of online courses on game design, taught by industry professionals and experts. While some of these courses require a fee, many offer free options as well: https://www.coursera.org/courses?query=game%20design

Remember, it takes hard work, dedication, and perseverance to become a computer game designer. You need to always structure yourself with information and make both work and learning super convenient for yourself, so that you can literally get the information you need in a few movements, and not get confused in all this abundance of information.
