MySQL not starting on new install

Postby Ubuntu_noob » 23. March 2021 16:23

Hi everyone.
I've been using Linux for three days and I'm only really MS Office smart on a PC so I'm gonna ask some real basics. I have version 8.0.3 of Xampp and am running on Ubuntu 20.04.
I have succesully installed Xampp and also installed Net Tools to address an error that showed in the output after the first running.

Now, when I try to open the lampp UI manager it shows that MySQL is not operating. Attempting to open http://localhost/myadmin also brings up a series of SQL errors

When I open lampp I get the following output from my terminal

gerard@LOH-asus-ubuntu:~$ sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start
[sudo] password for gerard:
Starting XAMPP for Linux 8.0.3-0...
XAMPP: Starting Apache...already running.
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...ok.
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...already running.
gerard@LOH-asus-ubuntu:~$ /opt/lampp/bin/mysql.server: 264: kill: No such process

gerard@LOH-asus-ubuntu:~$

I am using XAMPP for the first time after downloading it so maybe there are settings I still need to adjust or something? I have whatever info I thought will be useful but let me know if you need more.

I am a complete newcomer so forgive my very basic knowledge.

Cheers! :D :D
