Hello.
I am using xampp to create a web application. I've tried to use mysql for the first time but it doesn't works.
Xampp says that MySQL is running but when I try to use it ( with the command mysql, or "sudo mysql"), I got this issue : ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

Óbviously, you already have installed a MySQL instance in your Linux distributions. This collides with the Xampp installation, you cannot run two MySQL installations. That is the reason of your problems.
