Right User For Folders and Files [SOLVED]

Postby jdeperio2 » 26. June 2020 17:55

Hello all

I'm trying to setup nextcloud on my desktop that has Puppy Linux and XAMPP 7.4.7 and I keep getting an error saying it doesn't have the permission to "write". I've changed files/folders ownership from root to www-data to http AND have set permissions to '775' but nothing works. The only way I was able to get it to work is when I changed permission to unrecomnended '777' for safety reason.

So I'm just wondering if XAMPP requires is a specific user that I should give file/folder ownership to? I can't think of anything else that would cause the issue and I've searched on nextcloud forum for answers with no luck.

Also, I have not touched nextcloud's default .htaccess file
