I have 5.6 version installed on Ubuntu 18.04. I would like to keep this version and install 7.x version to migrate my application to php 7. How is it possible to install xampp to a directory with specified name /opt/lampp7 e.g.? Thanks.
[EDIT by Altrea: moved to the english section of this board]

No.
Xampp installs hard coded to /opt/lampp.
If you need different Xampp environments, you should use VirtualBox for different environments, each environment (operating system) can have its own Xampp installation.

Of course you can install Xampp 5.6 (already done), rename /opt/lampp to /opt/lampp5, and then install Xampp7 and finally rename it to /opt/lampp7.
And then you can copy/move lampp5 or lampp7 to lampp, which version you would like use. Dont forget to move back lampp to lampp5 or lampp7 before switching to the other installation. I dont think that a Xampp switcher does more. But you cannot run both Xampps at the same time (with Virtualbox you can run both at same time).

I don't need both xampps running at the same time because it's just for development. I have tried it and switching works fine.

Ok, so obviously you are done and its Ok for you?!
Its a little strange that Xampp for Linux only runs from /opt/lampp, i dont know why, because Xampp Windows runs from anywhere. I dont know why Bitnami uses hard coded pathnames in their compilation.

Yes, it's OK for my development computer. I have migrated to xampp 7.3 and Nette 3.0 successfuly
It was easier as I expected.
Now I have think about testing on customer's VPS. And I have to think about concurent xampp 5 and 7 on one server. Now I have to investigate VirtualBox because at customer is switching impossible.
