Apache2 install to MX-Linux 18.3

Postby Seagasm » 28. June 2019 00:45

Good morning, I recently installed apache2 package via the package installer in MX-Linux. While all is running well, I discovered the Apache installation installed into the File System Partition. It also installed so the working files are in the File System/var/www folder. I prefer to keep working files separate ie the user/home/folder, how can I achieve this please? thank you.

Either with the help of mod_userdir or simply modify DocumentRoot.

https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/mod_userdir.html, see also https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/howto/public_html.html
https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/core.html#documentroot

Bookmark https://httpd.apache.org/docs/ for future questions, there is plenty of documentation.

Altrea, This is a Linux Apache board relating to installation of Apache on a Linux system. The "A" is XAMPP abbreviates to meaning "Apache", so what is your problem?

Thank you Nobbie, I will have a look at that. I am new to Linux having come across from Windows and have installed XAMPP previously there.

[SOLVED] Apache2 install to MX-Linux 18.3

Postby Seagasm » 29. June 2019 05:47

Ok, I relocated the websites into the home folder, then changed the config files in apache2 to redirect to the sites in the respective home folder instead of File System/var/www/. All good so thank you all. :D

No, this is the support board for XAMPP installations on Linux specifically.
This whole board here primarily supports only problems relating to XAMPP and its pre-configured components.

So if you got help here you are lucky, but that does not mean that we are supporting any Apache issues except of XAMPP installations.
