Alter User statement invalid

Postby cearlp » 27. April 2019 23:17

What is wrong with the following statement -- using mariadb ver 15.1 distributions 10.1.38-MariaDB for Debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2a
alter user 'root'@'localhost' identified with mysql_native_password using 'mysqlrootpwd';
It fails with Error 1064 (42000) ...error in syntax...check manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax near 'user 'root'@'localhost' identified with mysql_native_password using 'mysqlrootpwd''
Same results with "using password('mysqlrootpwd');
