ca't get mysql started

Hi,
I'm using xampp 7.1.7-0 on an Linux Mint 18 mate notebook.
Unfortunately I can't start stop or restart MySQL.
In XAMPP Control Panel MySQL is shown as stopped.
The I tried different terminal commands. They don't work. -A MySQL daemon is running.-

please help
