Ok, cheers for taking a look.

Is there anywhere else I can look?

The result is that I can no longer even get the Xammp splash page up.

If I use the Gui to start Apache, this is the application log:
Starting Apache Web Server...
/opt/lampp/apache2/scripts/ctl.sh : httpd started

ATM, both Apache and mysql wont start, and ProFTBP does (earlier all stopped).

Perhaps unrelated

Also - if I start the services in command line, it says running (but it is not). Using the gui, they are all stopped.

if I check error logs, they have not updated since Tues, and using the gui, there is a bunch of odd ooooooo's.

Dude that makes so much sense, will check when I get home. My home folder is way too full and I have not invested any time to work out how to fix it 9in Ubunutu). What a lesson! Take the time to work these things out

Cleared lots of space. Home folder has 797.3 MB of 3.9 gigs (when I check properties.Folder 'Thomas' has 13 gig used of 44 gig. However the home folder is not so large.
